This is a lifestyle blog for men and women who want to learn how designer jeans and fashion can fit into their True Life. It’s not only for Fashionistas, hip moms and special sizes, it’s also for regular guys. Read more...
A short torso most often times works best with a low rise jean, but since gapping is an issue you need a jean that accommodates for curves with a back rise slightly higher with a great pocket placement. Sounds like you need a jean offered in a short length as well, I would recommend checking out the IT Diva jean. For utmost accuracy and more recommendations fill out a profile with your measurements and we can pin point some excellent fitting and flattering jeans for you.

Hello Karen,
We definitely have jeans to fit your curves and long legs! If you typically wear a size 10, that would convert to a size 30; fluctuating up or down depending on the brand or style. I would recommend Red Engine and Pine IV as well as the Kasil jeans that you were getting great fit ratings for. Please click through other styles to check out your fit scores and in the details section the approximate inseam length. If a jean is unavailable in your recommended size it will not show up in your personal catalogue. If you see something you like that is out of stock but you are getting a great fit rating for, please let us know because we are always replenishing inventory and can send the jeans to you upon arrival.
Best,
Julie

True Jeans is really excited about supporting the National Eating Disorders Association and its Embrace Your Genes campaign. The campaign is all about encouraging people to love their healthy bodies and embrace the genes they inherited. True Jeans is supporting the campaign by giving people a special discount to buy jeans that fit the TRUE you. This special discount can be found at EmbraceYourGenes.org. For every pair of jeans purchased using this discount, True Jeans will donate $20 to the National Eating Disorders Association.
We would also like to thank Microsoft and MSNBC for supporting the campaign. On Thursday, MSNBC featured EmbraceYourGenes banners on its homepage for the entire day. That's a $90,000 value. Microsoft has been very supportive of NEDA and this campaign.
True Jeans will continue to support NEDA and the Embrace Your Genes campaign throughout the year and we're proud of the cause and our association with NEDA. The campaign is a perfect fit wth True Jeans existing values and goal to be able help people of all shapes and sizes to be able to find jeans that fit. We still have some limitations and limited selection for certain sizes and body shapes, but we are still striving to expand our offering for all. We've made significant progress in this area as we started offering Plus Size women's jeans from brands like Svoboda and Jag Jeans in the past few months. The response has been overwhelming and we appreciate everyone who has taken time to offer feedback and better understand how we're doing from your perspective.
thanks again,

A reader by the name of T. Lynn left a comment addressing a common problem many denim shoppers face:
"What type of jeans should I be buying, I a few lbs. overweight and wear a size 10 jeans. I am not sure what type of jeans to get. What is your suggestion?"
Hi T. Lynn-
The type of jean you should buy would depend on your personal preference and comfort, for instance, form-fitting, relaxed, boot cut, etc. If you are feeling a little self-conscious after holiday weight (trust me I know exactly how you feel!); a mid-rise jean is super comfy for some belly hiding and a darker wash tends to slimming.
Best,
Julie

A reader recently said,
"Hi Julie,
What do you think about men wearing womens jeans---I'm serious. Because I don't like the bagginess and roomy thighs of typical mens jeans. Normally a slim jean is not slim enough with many styles for me and I'm not really into the skinny jean. I'm a thin guy, about 6 feet tall and barely 150 and I was looking at a pair of 1921 jeans for women. It's stretch denim but does that matter with my physique? I appreciate your comments--thankyou. - Jeff"
Hi Jeff,
I think a woman's jean might give you the fit that you need in a jean, and a lot of men's jeans are not cut for a slimmer figure that wants a slim fit. Most men's jeans are 100% cotton which is probably what is creating the extra bagginess in the thighs; the woman's jeans mostly have 2-3% stretch to create a formfitting look. If you do not like a "skinny jean" I would just be careful of what is in the % of stretch that is in the woman's jean such as spandex or lycra, unless it is a woman's jean that is meant to be a relaxed fit through the thigh.
Men's jeans that have a stretch content will tend to be more form fitting through the thigh such as the 7 for all Mankind, Boot cut in the Fiji wash.
Best,
Julie

TrueJeans blog reader Kelly writes "I find the only jean that works for me is David Britton's Buffalo jean but, you do not have them listed on your site. Why not???"
Hello Kelly,
We currently do not carry Buffalo Jeans, so we can only provide fit predictions for the jeans brands and styles that we feature on the website. We do extensive research and fit test each style individually, so it takes some time to create a deep product mix. There has got to be more than one jean to fit you; we can help!!
Best,
Julie

True Jeans was recently featured on CNBC's "Big Idea with Donny Deutsch". Jessica and I (Romney) sat down with Donny and his two other guests to get feedback on whether True Jeans has what it takes to be the next BIG IDEA for internet shopping. The two other guests that day happened to be Duff Makagan (former bassist for Guns n' Roses) and his supermodel wife Susan Holmes (swimwear and jeans model). We had a great time visiting with them on set. Duff expressed some hesitation about shopping for jeans online but by the end of the segment we were happy that he came around. Suffice it to say... they all believed True Jeans was a "Big Idea". Enjoy the segment.

Perhaps you've visited the folks over at DenimBlog and HonestForum via our blog roll or some of our blog posts for some fashion advice or the scoop on the latest trends.
There is another really cool part of their website called HonestMall. You know how if you go into eBay and search for designer clothes, you end up with a gazillion results loaded with knock-offs and scams? Well, on HonestMall, it's a much smaller scale, and they've taken precautions to make sure that all of the listings are authentic.
The mall charges a one time $10 entry fee to keep the scammers out, and there are brand managers that review the posted items to make sure they're real. They dig through to make sure that the seller is a real person, that they have a high feedback rating, where the item came from, and they even comb over high-res photos to confirm stitching and tag details. No more squinting at your monitor to figure out if that sexy Juicy Couture sweatshirt or that cute Kate Spade bag is fake! Some sample brands you might find on there include Diesel Jeans and Sevens as well as Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabbana, Manolo Blahnik, and more.
They are also working on integration with myspace and facebook and are building a mini version to work on your phones and blackberries. The best part? They've started a charity too and a portion of all their revenue goes to the poor. Stay tuned for more info as we collaborate, and remember to shop safely! If you're ever suspicious, remember to have a look at our blog post about how to spot fake premium denim so you don't make an expensive mistake!

Hello Liz-
Great comment, and feedback! We have jeans to your rescue!
The truejeans predictions will give you the sizes and styles in which will fit you best according to your body shape and measurements, etc. We are currently working on factoring torso length in the body shape section to factor in that additional fit criteria. When you receive your personal catalog, from that point I would encourage you to narrow down your search results to your personal preference mid-rise, boot cut, snug fit. Our classification of a mid-rise is approximately in the range of 8+ front rises, which is listed specifically jean to jean in the details tab of your selection, also with the fabric content. For a stretch mid-rise jean, I would suggest Pine IV, Christopher Blue and WORN styles, which all have 2-3% stretch for your comfort.
Best,
Julie

You've commented, you've emailed, and we've listened! TrueJeans is now branching into plus sizes! We're starting out with two main brands - Svoboda and Jag - and are looking to expand once we get some feedback about the other brands people are interested in. We're also offering free shipping, exchanges and returns to all plus size customers, and are offering a special 15% off coupon by entering "PLUSPROMO" in the code box during check-out for the following styles: Svoboda - All Styles, Jag - Gordon Plus, Madison Plus and Lucy Flair Plus.
Since we're just starting out with this new venture, your feedback is even more important to us in order to help us make our services even better for you. Now, more than ever, we encourage you to contact us to let us know what's working for you, what isn't, what you'd like to change, and what brands you'd like to see in the future once we're able to expand even more.
We hope that this is the start of something great for us, and it's because of the feedback of our customers and blog readers that we've been able to provide new offerings to better suit your needs. Thanks to everyone for helping us and continuing to get the word out about TrueJeans. Happy shopping!
